We offer two different types of individual job posts: the Help Wanted Ad and the Highlighted Job.
The Help Wanted is a 7 day, multi-position posting. You can use this post type to advertise any number of open positions, advertise an upcoming job fair, direct traffic to your Enhanced Employer Profile, or any other general recruiting needs you may have.
The Highlighted Job is a 30 day, single position posting. You can use this type of post to advertise for positions with more specialized skill sets and experience levels (e.g. HR Manager, Fly Fishing Guide, Head Chef, etc.), or if you have multiple vacancies for the same position (e.g. you need to hire 5 housekeepers, or 3 line cooks, etc.).
Before a Highlighted Job is posted, you'll be prompted to acknowledge that your Highlighted Job post is only for a single position, and to acknowledge our terms that we may edit the ad either to reflect only a single position, or convert it to a Help Wanted ad and refund your account for the difference in cost.
Here are the main reasons why we may edit or convert your ad:
- Multiple positions listed in the Post/Job Title - If your Highlighted Job references multiple positions in the Post and/or Job Title (e.g. "Now hiring for cooks, front desk, and housekeepers"), then a multiple-position, Help Wanted post has been created, and we'll convert the ad and refund you the difference in price.
- Multiple positions are referenced in the body of the ad - If your Highlighted Job post title references a single position, but the body of the post references multiple positions (e.g. Post/Job Title states "Executive Chef", but the body of the ad contains copy that states "We're also hiring for housekeepers, waitstaff, and campground attendants"), then a multiple-position, Help Wanted post has been created. Generally, if the majority of the copy in the ad is providing information on the Executive Chef position, we'll just remove the copy referencing the additional positions and leave the post as a Highlighted Job. However, if the majority of the copy in the ad is describing all open positions, we'll convert it to a Help Wanted and refund the difference in price.
Gray Areas
We've identified a few gray areas that arise frequently in the world of seasonal recruiting. Here are a few examples and how we would handle each of them.
- Camp Counselors - multiple skills - If you're recruiting for camp counselors who's primary role will be counselors, who will also rotate through (and share) leading multiple activities throughout the season (e.g. Archery, Canoeing, Crafts, etc.), then these can be posted as a single-position, Highlighted Job post as they are counselors, and one of their duties beyond caring for campers is to staff and lead camp activities. However, if counselors are hired for specific, specialized activities and will be performing the same function all season (e.g. Experienced Lacrosse Counselor who in addition to teaching lacrosse is also responsible for caring for campers in the cabin or when not leading their activity), then that position can only be posted as a Highlighted Job by itself. If you want to advertise for multiple specialized counselors in the same job post (Seeking Experienced Lacrosse, Equestrian, and Waterskiing Counselors), then a Help Wanted post or Enhanced Employer Profile should be used.
- "Cooks" vs. "Sous Chef, Prep Cooks and Line Cooks" - The variety of skills required for different levels of food prep positions typically qualifies them as unique, separate positions. However, some smaller operations may not structure their kitchen operation with a rigid hierarchy, and may just look to hire 3-4 "cooks" to staff their kitchen. If this is the case and your post reflects that, it can be posted as a Highlighted Job. If the post/job title states "Cooks", but the copy reflects different skill level positions (e.g. "We're currently seeking to fill our Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chef, Pantry Chef, and Dishwasher positions") or the Apply Now button links to an Applicant Tracking System page referencing multiple different Job Title/skill level positions, then a Help Wanted post has been created, and we'll convert it and refund the price difference.
If you have multiple positions to fill, and you'd like to advertise them for more than 7 days, an Enhanced Employer Profile is probably the best option. If you're not sure which option is best for your needs, please contact us so we can work through your options and help identify the best strategy for your organization and staffing needs.
